Bridging Brown County is pleased to offer a Leadership Conference on Tuesday, August 29. The conference will be held at the Sleepy Eye Event Center beginning with registration & networking at 8:30 AM.
The morning session will be Dynamics of Change with Catie Rasmussen, Extension Professor Leadership and Civic Engagement from the University of Minnesota Extension. Change and adaptability in our fast-paced world is an important issue today. The way we react to change as leaders sets the tone for how others we work with will respond to change. It can be a challenge to deal with the changes that we are seeing and also effectively lead others along the way. This workshop is designed to help individuals better understand their own preference for change, practical tips for managing the stress of transition, and strategies for leading change in groups, organizations or communities. This session will be from 9 AM – Noon.
The afternoon session will be Strengthening Trust in Communities with Tobias Spanier, Extension Associate Professor, Leadership and Civic Engagement from the University of Minnesota Extension. Research shows that trust is closely correlated to positive benefits, including increased efficiency and effectiveness, while lack of trust results in redundancy, disengagement and less creativity. It begs the questions – what can leaders do to build trust? This workshop demystifies trust through an examination of three most common places where trust is built or lsot. Participants add their experiences and insights to the learning so that, as leaders, they are able to implement strategies to build trust as part of modeling good group relationships behaviors. There is also discussion strategies to build trust across cultures.
Registration fee is $55 for one seminar & lunch or $95 for two seminars and lunch. You may also register online at https://z.umn.edu/bbcalumni2017
