Nineteen Sleepy Eye FFA members attended the one day leadership camp that was held at the public high school, on August 1st, 2025. Sleepy Eye FFA Advisors, Paul Hendrickx, and Alyssa Mitchell; along with several members from the Springfield, BLHS, Cedar Mountain, and Tri City United FFA.
During this day camp, the six State FFA Officers presented three workshops. Each of them focused on how members can become stronger leaders, how they can grow within the FFA, and learning ways to better conduct a meeting.
In the workshop focusing on leadership, students took personality quizzes to see what type of leader they are, learned their strengths and weaknesses, and had to plan an event with other members using their personality type.
The workshop focusing on chapter meetings had students learn the parts of a meeting agenda by creating a mock meeting as a group, and deciding what ingredients to put in their snack mix using Robert’s Rules of Order.
The third workshop on personal growth had members play bingo by getting signatures of those who have completed certain achievements in FFA and drew their own FFA emblem.
The day ended with the state officers and members playing volleyball and kickball on the school playground.
