The family of the late Katie Rehbein received a special visit December 21….from dozens of people including local EMS, Fire and Police departments, Santa and Mrs. Claus and a group of volunteers from all over the state who are part of an organization called the Best Christmas Ever.
The family suffered immeasurable loss when their home burned and Katie lost her life saving her children on May 8th. The family has since purchased a new home but many repairs were needed to it and much physical and emotional recovery needed for the entire family.
The Best Christmas Ever organization made things a bit more cheery this Christmas season when they delivered dozen of gifts for all family members. Notable gifts to help them establish a new beginning included approximatwly one year’s worth of mortage payments, a new furnace and work to repair a leaky basement. The family will also be taking a trip to Disney World courtesy of the organization.
The family was surprised Sunday morning when the caring community paraded into their new home with gifts. (see photos below). Volunteers first gathered at the Aquatic Center parking lot to organize before surrounding the home with vehicle and lots of love.
Katie’s family includes: Her children, Bransten, Rosalie, Evangeline and Gabriel, her fiance Andrew Weber and her mother Mindi Rehbein
