On Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 0422 hours, Brown County dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a juvenile witness who stated that his mom’s ex-boyfriend broke into their house and shot his mom.
Upon law enforcement entering the house, it was determined that two victims, 50 year old male victim and 32 year old female victim, had both died from gunshot wounds.
The suspect is identified as Randy Thomas Zimmerman, age 45, and is NOT in custody.
The suspect was last seen at the residence wearing black or camouflage jacket, black pants, black shoes, black baseball style hat and carrying a long gun. Randy Zimmerman is possibly driving a 2013 black Toyota Camery, Minnesota license 2GU817, VIN 4T1BF1FK0DU684211.
Randy Zimmerman may possibly be in Minnesota or surrounding states.
Randy Zimmerman is considered to be armed and dangerous.
This is an active and on-going investigation. Responding agencies include: The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, New Ulm Police Department, Sleepy Eye Police Department, Hanska Fire Department, Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville County Emergency Response Unit, and the River Valley Tactical Response Team.

Randy Thomas Zimmerman, age 45, the suspect in the double homicide in Hanska, Minnesota from earlier today was taken into custody by law enforcement in Iowa to include the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; and the Iowa State Patrol around 1612 hours on 11-02-2025.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota does not have any details as to the events surrounding the arrest of Randy Zimmerman in Iowa.
There is a Brown County, Minnesota warrant for the arrest of Randy Thomas Zimmerman in place for the homicides of a 50 year old male and 32 year old female which took place in Hanska, Minnesota earlier today.
