Former Sleepy Eye City Manager dies

Former Sleepy Eye City Manager, Ed Treml, passed away on June 6th after a brief illness.

Ed served as the Sleepy Eye City Manager (then called the City Clerk) for 33 years, retiring in the early 2000s. He was known for his dedication and fairness.

Ed also served the community as a volunteer firefighter for 27 years, and faithfully served on the Sleepy Eye Hospital Board for 48 years. His commitment to service extended through his involvement with the American Legion, Honor Guard Trustee, Jaycees, Eagles, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and as Treasurer of the Sleepy Eye Golf Club.

Sleepy Eye Ambulance Director Shari Hittesdorf, who has worked for the City of Sleepy Eye for 35 years, said,” I was hired by Ed to run the ambulance service. My role expanded to Safety Director and Emergency Manager under his leadership. I will always be grateful for the faith he had in me as a leader.”

“I felt he had the best interest of the community always on his mind, incredibly dedicated” she concluded.
