
Josephine Catherine Rose, the daughter of George and Margaret (Reznicek) Tauer, was born on March 21, 1934, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She grew up in Sleepy Eye with her siblings and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. Before marriage she helped her dad in the grocery delivery business and later worked in New Ulm.
On June 16, 1956, Josephine married Melvin Rose at St. Mary’s Rectory in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they lived in Fairmont for a short time until 1958 and moved to Sleepy Eye. She was a member of Christian Mothers and did volunteer work at the food shelf. Josphine dedicated her life to being a wife and mother.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Pam (Bob) Fleck of Mankato; sons, Paul Rose of New Ulm and Peter (Celena) Rose of Sleepy Eye; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; a brother in Kent, WA; two nephews; one niece; and other loving relatives and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Rose; her parents; one sister and brother-in-law; and one brother and sister-in-law.
