Marvin was born July 26, 1926 in Jackson, MN to Willard and Eugenia (Lashbrook) Burrows. Before graduating from Jackson High School, he enlisted in the US Navy. Narrative of his brave service to his country can be found in an article published in the July 26, 2025 Star News. Marvin earned a Purple Heart prior to his honorable discharge and returned to Jackson. He married Eileen Swant on June 1, 1956 in Jackson. They began what became a family of three children. Marvin learned the photography and the printing business from the ground up by beginning as a publisher’s apprentice for the Livewire newspaper. He and Eileen worked for the Livewire for 20 years before striking out on their own to become owners and operators of Burrows Printing Company in Fairmont until his retirement. Everyone recognized the Burrows as the couple who walked everywhere. Long after retirement, Marvin proudly worked maintaining the wayside rest along Interstate 90. He enjoyed card games, bingo and visiting with fellow residents at the Guardian Angels.
Marvin’s love of God and his country was apparent in the way he lived his life. While active in his church, he also was involved in the Kiwanis, The Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and VFW. He continued to enjoy photography and wood working.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Paula) Burrows of Big Lake, Ruth Moldan of Sleepy Eye, Beth Burrows of Mankato; grandchildren, Andrew Burrows, Jackie Burrows, Erin (Caleb) Watson and Ethan (Tomomi) Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2013; son-in-law, Larry Moldan.
