
Nick was born on March 14, 1940, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to LeRoy and Ellen (Strong) Lux. He married Irene Portner on September 18, 1962, at The Cathedral of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Together they were blessed with two children and shared many wonderful years of marriage.
After marriage, Nick and Irene farmed in the Sleepy Eye area for a number of years before Nick started working full time at the Farmers Elevator Company in 1977. He retired from full time work in 2012 and continued to work part time for a few years driving truck. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and theater performances.
He is survived by his wife Irene of Sleepy Eye; daughter Michelle (Mark) Yungbauer of Motley and son Matthew Lux of Sleepy Eye; granddaughter Anna (Brandon) Berg of Hartley, Iowa and grandson Jacob Lux of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; great granddaughter Ruth Berg; sisters Marge Weiss of Sleepy Eye, Luella ‘Corky’ (Jim) Ries of North Mankato and Mary (Mike) Dubois of Elk River; brothers Clifford (JoAnn) Lux of Sleepy Eye and Kenny (Annette) Lux of Sleepy Eye.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents; brother Leon ‘Pete’ Lux; daughter-in-law Maria (Bastian) Lux; and brother-in-law Jerry Weiss.
While he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices that he has been welcomed into his eternal home. Nick’s family wishes to thank the staff of Divine Providence Community Home and Allina Oncology Department and Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
