Piehl, Jensen honored with Quilts of Valor

Two local veterans were honored April 26th with a Quilt of Valor. Steve Jensen and Jerry Piehl received the special blanket from Quilt of Valor Foundation representative Paula Domena and assistant Patti Peterson during a ceremony held at Veteran’s Park.

Piehl and Jensen are both Vietnam War Veterans.

Domena (former Sleepy Eye Resident Paula Murphy), a veteran herself, stitched the quilts. (Patti is also a Sleepy Eye Native – Patti Murphy)

A Quilt of Valor® (QOV) is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”
