A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield, on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:00 am. The clergy will be Chaplain Noel Wetter and Pastor Carl Billings. Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield, MN.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN. \u00a0Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.<\/p>\n<p>Larry John Potter was born on June 10, 1942, to Harold and Mildred (Kissner) Potter in Springfield, MN. \u00a0He graduated from Sleepy Eye Public Schools. \u00a0Larry married Ruth Polkow on December 14, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. He was a farmer his entire life until retirement in 2012. He also worked part time at Del Monte in Sleepy Eye and Hackers Tree Farm. \u00a0Larry enjoyed tinkering and welding in his shop for hours. He loved old time music &#8211; especially old-time country. Some of his favorite pastimes included playing sheep head, fishing after retirement with his brother Dale, and traveling with Ruthie. Together they spent 15 winters in Texas \u00a0and went on 7 Wendinger band trips all throughout the U.S. Larry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and as an usher. \u00a0He was also on the Burnstown Township board and was a member of the Brown County Pork Producers.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruthie of Springfield; daughter Cristy Potter (special friend Aaron Kearns) of Argyle, IA; grandchildren &#8211; Alex and Violet Potter, Trevor, Brandon, and Callie Potter, Halie and Anna Coulter; great granddaughter Airali Potter; daughters-in-law, Theresa and Amy; siblings &#8211; Richard Potter, Dale (Rosie) Potter of Springfield, and Diane (Fred) Hillger of Asheboro, NC. \u00a0Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sons &#8211; Craig and Cory, and brother James.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Larry \u00a0John Potter \u00a0age 82, of Springfield, MN died on March 7, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
