{"id":141990,"date":"2025-04-11T19:33:27","date_gmt":"2025-04-12T00:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sleepyeyeonline.com\/goodnews\/?p=141990"},"modified":"2025-04-11T19:33:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-12T00:33:27","slug":"anthony-sellner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sleepyeyeonline.com\/goodnews\/anthony-sellner\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthony Sellner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sleepyeyeonline.com\/goodnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/9297486_fbs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-141991\" title=\"9297486_fbs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sleepyeyeonline.com\/goodnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/9297486_fbs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sleepyeyeonline.com\/goodnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/9297486_fbs.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.sleepyeyeonline.com\/goodnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/9297486_fbs-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Anthony \u201cTony\u201d Leo Sellner, age 86 of New Ulm died peacefully after a hard-fought battle with Parkinsons on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n<p>Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Mary\u2019s Catholic Church in New Ulm. \u00a0Father Mark Steffl will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. \u00a0Full military honors will be provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, April 15th, and continue from 9-10:30 am on Wednesday all at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home- North Chapel in New Ulm.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence for his family, or to sign the guestbook, go to: mvfh.org<\/p>\n<p>Tony is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darlene Sellner of New Ulm; his daughter, Mary (Charles) Orr of East Falmouth, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Jamison (Camilla) Orr of Charlotte, North Carolina, Justin Orr of East Falmouth, Massachusetts; his sisters, Rosemary (James) Klingler of New Ulm, Agnes Wildt of New Ulm, Lucille Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers-in-law, Richard Wildt, and James Mathiowetz.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony \u201cTony\u201d Leo Sellner was born on February 17, 1939, in Sleepy Eye to Arnold and Martha (Domeier) Sellner. Growing up in New Ulm, Tony was a 1957 graduate from Holy Trinity High School. Tony went on to further his education at Mankato Commercial College where he attained his degree in accounting. Tony proudly served his country for six years in the Minnesota Army National Guard, where he attained the rank of Sergeant E-5 and served as Squad Leader 11D40.<\/p>\n<p>On November 26, 1960, Tony was united in marriage to the love of his life, Darlene Ranweiler at St. George Catholic Church. Together they were blessed with their daughter, Mary, whom they lovingly raised in New Ulm. Throughout his career, Tony worked at several establishments in New Ulm, including Frandsen Bank and Trust (1962\u20131974), Alwin Electric Appliance in bookkeeping (1974\u20131983), New Ulm Public Utilities (1983\u20132004), and most recently in retirement at St. Michael\u2019s Housing where he worked in maintenance until 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Tony was a man of many talents and passions\u2014he especially enjoyed working with his hands in his woodshop and was a proud member of the Minnesota Woodworkers Guild. He also found great satisfaction in remodeling and making repairs around his home, always taking pride in keeping it well-maintained and welcoming. \u00a0Tony had a lifelong love of Cushman Motor Scooters and was a member of the Cushman Club of America. \u00a0Tony took great pride in the little things\u2014he found joy in keeping his lawn perfectly manicured and always kept his car and truck in pristine condition. His attention to detail reflected the care he brought to every part of his life.<\/p>\n<p>As a devout Catholic, Tony was a dedicated member of St. Mary\u2019s Catholic Church in New Ulm, where he faithfully served for over 50 years as an usher. He was also active in Catholic United Financial. Above all, Tony dearly loved his family and cherished the time spent with them.
