Despite first aid, the man, identified as Abdul Bakr Jafar, was pronounced deceased at 4:54 a.m., police said.<\/p>\n<p>A witness reported seeing a conversion van with a ladder rack hit the Jafar and drive off. Investigators were able to get more information and surveillance video of the crash from a nearby home.<\/p>\n<p>Maplewood police announced Friday afternoon that 46-year-old Jose Ronald Hernandez-Pineda was arrested in Sleepy Eye in connection with the crash. The van was found with him at the time of his arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez-Pineda was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, and police suspect alcohol contributed to the crash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 46-year-old was arrested Friday in connection with a fatal Maplewood hit-and-run.
