Si<\/strong>mon\u2019s Arena, Cannon Falls, MN (Sept 5-9, 2025) and Stearns County Fairgrounds, Sauk Centre (Sept. 13-14, 2025)<\/strong> \u2013 4-H youth from Brown County participated in the Minnesota 4-H State Horse show Sept. 5-9, 2025 and Sept. 13-14, 2025. This year, over 645 youth from across the state participated in the annual event. 4-H\u2019ers demonstrate their skills and knowledge in hippology (showing knowledge and understanding of equine science and husbandry), horse judging (study of an animal, measuring it against an accepted ideal), horse training and achievement, speech and demonstrations about horses or the horse industry, miniature horse and drill team skills, along with all of the competitive horse riding events.<\/p>\n

Youth who participate in the Minnesota 4-H Horse Project learn about show and trail, test their horse knowledge at quiz bowls or on judging teams, and study horse science. Youth may participate if they own or lease a horse. There are even options for youth who are interested in horses, but don\u2019t have access to one in their community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough the Minnesota 4-H State Horse Show, youth build communications skills, gain deeper learning and interest in horses, and build relationships with caring adults,\u201d said Renee Kostick, Extension Educator who manages the 4-H horse project in Minnesota. \u201cThese experiences contribute to their success in school, community, and futures.\u201d<\/p>\n

The following youth were members of the Brown County delegation: Leah Kucera, Mia Walter, Sydney Zarn, Kenedi Wersal, D\u2019Lyla Todd, and Millie Lax.<\/p>\n

Results: D\u2019Lyla Todd – 9th place Hunt Seat Pleasure and 9th place Western Horsemanship, Mia Walter – 9th place Barrels, Leah Kucera – 2nd place Key Race, Sydney Zarn – 4th place Key Race<\/p>\n
