A farmer at heart and a mechanic by nature, he found endless joy in restoring antique tractors and classic cars — anything with a motor that he could tinker with until it sang. In his body shop, he spent countless hours repairing cars that had been banged up, bringing them back to life — often better than before — with patience, precision, and pride. Known for his craftsmanship and trustworthy reputation, Dick’s work spoke for itself, earning him the respect and friendship of neighbors and customers alike. A proud member of the local Two-Cylinder Club, he delighted in the hum of engines reborn under his steady and skilled hands. He proudly served his country in the Minnesota National Guard for nearly eight years, carrying that same sense of duty and discipline into every part of his life.

A man of deep Catholic faith, Dick lived his devotion quietly but steadfastly, weaving prayer and service into the fabric of everyday life. He was an active member of his parish and instilled that same spirit of faith in his children. Beyond work and worship, he found simple pleasures in being on the lakes of Minnesota — camping, fishing, boating, and enjoying the peace that comes from being on the water. He loved Old-Tyme polka and waltz music and could often be found gliding across the worn wooden ballroom floors of the Midwest with his wife, daughters, and granddaughters in his arms. Known for his teasing humor, infectious laughter, and hard-working hands, Dick truly embodied the richness and joy of a life fully lived.

He often wore the gruff exterior of the men of his generation, but to those who knew and loved him, he revealed a softer, tenderhearted side — a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest pride was his family and the homestead that helped shape them all. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, friendship, love in great measure, and a joyful spirit that will echo long after the last waltz ends.

Dick is survived by his wife, Joyce Neyers of Sleepy Eye; children, Michele Neyers of Annapolis, MD, Michael (Jennie) Neyers of Glencoe, and Melissa McGrath of Brainerd; grandchildren, Michaela Neyers and Jenna Neyers of Glencoe; siblings, Mary Lou (Jerry) Mans of Savage, Joan Hauser of Prior Lake, and Tom Neyers of Minneapolis; in-laws, Ron and Connie Wendinger of New Ulm and Ralph Garding of Blaine; and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Martha Neyers; parents-in-law, LeRoy and Marie Reinhart; brother-in-law, Greg (Kathy) Reinhart; and sister-in-law, Rachel Garding.

Richard Clarence “Dick” Neyers was born on April 14, 1942, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the son of Elmer and Martha (Hillesheim) Neyers.
