Community Education May Update

It is hard to believe we are in our final month of the 2025-26 school year! It has been a busy and productive year with our lifelong learners! Thanks for all your participation in our various classes, events and trips. We may be saying goodbye to the school year soon, but we are saying hello to summer and all the fun that season brings! Our summer newsletter is in the final stages of prep and will be available on the school website early to mid-May. It will also be distributed to all PreK and elementary students in the district. There will be no shortage of activities to be participate in this summer! So many wonderful opportunities for our youth (and adults, too!)

We have two remaining trips scheduled before we take a little break until the fall: Sidekick Theater’s Birthday Candles on Wednesday, May 13 and the MN Twins game against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, June 7. We have had a few people already inquire about the MN State Fair trip, so I am happy to report that trip date has been secured! Mark your calendar for Thursday, Sept. 3! That is one of the Senior Days at the fair. Full details will be provided in our fall newsletter, but feel free to call and register any time!

Our final Defensive Driver course will take place Thursday, May 7 at 1:00 pm. Anyone 55 years and older may take the course to qualify for the auto insurance premium discount. The next class won’t be held until September.

An extremely popular event of the summer is our joint sponsorship with Sleepy Eye Community Theater for the Junior Theater camp and production. This summer’s production of Disney Descendants, the Musical will definitely be a hit! Auditions are May 14 and 16 with rehearsal and production dates in late July. Full details will be available in the summer newsletter.

If you have a teen driver with a permit that will need Behind the Wheel instruction this summer, email or call to get them on the schedule. Six hours of instruction are required to obtain the white card needed to take the road test for their license. We anticipate a full schedule of student drivers.

Don’t forget to look to our ECFE social media pages, newsletter and school website for our ECFE Events! The very popular “End of the Year Vehicle Fair” is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12. The event is a perfect way for our early learners to wrap up their year—fully engaged with hands on learning!

Until next month, have a great month of May!
