Double Homicide Victims identified

VICTIM: Justin Paul Reinarts (deceased), age 50, 102 Blessum Street West, Hanska, Minnesota 56041

VICTIM: Tabitha Leigh Trescott (deceased), age 32, 15 North State Street, New Ulm, Minnesota 56073

SUSPECT: Randy Thomas Zimmerman, age 45, 51846 County Road 21, Courtland, Minnesota 56021

On Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 0422 hours, Brown County dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a juvenile witness who stated that his mom’s ex-boyfriend, Randy Thomas Zimmerman, broke into their house and shot his mom.

Upon law enforcement entering the house, it was determined that two victims, 50 year old male victim and 32 year old female victim, had both died from gunshot wounds.

A nationwide Brown County, Minnesota warrant was issued for the arrest of Randy Thomas Zimmerman in the double homicide in Hanska, Minnesota.

Randy Thomas Zimmerman was arrested and taken into custody by law enforcement in Iowa on 11-02-2025 at 1612 hours. The Iowa law enforcement agencies effecting the arrest included the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa; and the Iowa State Patrol. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota does not have any details as to the events surrounding the arrest of Randy Zimmerman in Iowa.

Randy Thomas Zimmerman made his first appearance in court in Iowa and is awaiting extradition back to Brown County, Minnesota.
