Douglas Sellner
Douglas Raymond Sellner died at age 58 on November 21, 2024 at his home in Missoula, Montana. He received last rites and was anointed before his passing in accordance with the traditions of his catholic faith. Visitation and rosary were held in Missoula on November 26, 2024.
Doug was born on August 2, 1966 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He was the third child of Raymond and Delores (Landkammer) Sellner. Doug received his education from St. Mary’s Catholic School of Sleepy Eye and graduated in 1984. Throughout his years in Minnesota, Doug worked as an Assistant manager for several grocery stores and as a delivery driver for Archway Cookies, Hostess, and Sara Lee. His favorite job was working as a Custodial Engineer for St. Peter High School. During his time there, he made many friends and mentored several students.
In 1986, Doug met Linda Mattson, with whom he went on to share three daughters and two step-sons. Doug and Linda were married from 1993 to 1997. Doug moved to St. Peter, MN in 1997 and resided there until 2018. While living in St. Peter, he was blessed to serve as a father figure to the children of two other long-term romantic partners. Doug made a long-distance love connection in 2015 when he met Colleen Underwood online. In 2018, the couple married and moved to her home state of Montana where they resided until his death.
As a boy, Doug’s favorite pastimes were hunting, driving go-carts, playing sports, and video games. As he grew up he added snowmobiling and driving motorcycles to his list of hobbies. One could most often find Doug cheering on the MN Vikings; hunting with his dogs; fishing; or relaxing outdoors with family and friends. Doug’s loved ones remember him as a fun-loving sports nut with a cornball sense of humor and insatiable sweet tooth. One of his favorite things in the world was to give his loved ones nicknames. Many friends and family have had those nicknames stick with them throughout their entire lives and that’s a legacy Doug would be incredibly happy to leave behind.
Doug is survived by his wife, Colleen (Underwood) Sellner; daughters, Vanessa (Sellner) Mattson Normandin and husband Brad, Shannice Sellner and partner Cody Persinger, and Shaylene Sellner; sisters, Deborah (Sellner) Booze, Chandra (Sellner) Krenz and husband Mark, and Stacy (Sellner) Walter and husband Jeff; step-children; Catie Armstrong and husband Cody, Curtis Wilson and wife Dani, and Stephanie Wilson; former step-sons Clinton and Justin Zeitz; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents; numerous aunts and uncles; and beloved pets.
