Gina Schauman

Gina Schauman, age 64, of Hector, MN passed away at her home on Sunday, July 5, 2026. A memorial service will be on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, rural Hector. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Olivia, MN.

Gina Kay Schauman was born on November 24, 1961, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, to Gilbert and Janette (Schueler) Schauman. Gina attended Sleepy Eye High School graduating in 1980. She was currently working at Dollar General in Hector. She was previously employed at Sanitary Dairy in Sleepy Eye, the Hector Meat Market and then Benny’s Meat Market, also at Arby’s and Casey’s baking different items. She enjoyed time with her partner, Curtis Hopp, and they were able to enjoy many trips over the years. Gina loved making homemade bars, gardening, spending time outdoors, and caring for her cats. She was a member of the Leavenworth softball team in her earlier years where she played catcher. Her family remembers her as a hard worker who always had a smile and remained positive.

Gina is survived by her siblings: Vickie (and Craig) Peterson of Chaska, Michael (and Marilyn) Schauman of Sleepy Eye, Nita (and Harlan) Helget of Darfur, Jon (and Jan) Schauman of Sleepy Eye, Kayla Nason of Sleepy Eye, and William (and Stephanie) Schauman of Palacios, TX; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Schauman; her mother, Janette (Schueler) Schauman; her brothers, Daniel Schauman and Joel Schauman; her sister, Jullie Hatten; her brothers-in-law, Grant Hatten and Daniel Nason and her significant other Curtis Hopp.
