John Bertrand
John Ambrose Bertrand, 84, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away on August 7, 2025. He was born on March 31, 1941, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to the late Ambrose John Bertrand and Margaret Mary (Hoffmann) Bertrand.
John graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota in 1959. After receiving his BS degree in electrical engineering from Indiana Tech in 1962, John worked as an engineer in Germany for three years, returned stateside, and worked for several contractors at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio for the following 35 years. Outside of work John enjoyed biking, camping, kayaking, was an advocate for nature by planting trees, wild flowers, milkweed, and participated in a variety of other local and state conservation programs. Being the commensurate scientist and naturalist, John donated his body to Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine Anatomical Gift Program.
He is survived by his former wife of 23 years, Kay (Arend) Bertrand; his four children, Jonora (Jack) Corns of Grove City, OH, AJ (Diane) Bertrand of New Port Richey, FL, Paula Bertrand of Troy, OH, and Juli (Stephen) Jacobson of Bloomington, IN; his six grandchildren Jarret, Jacilynd, Tyler, Ryan, Carina, and Neil; his two great grandchildren, Bentley and Camden; and siblings, Eugene (Barb) Bertrand of Sleepy Eye, MN, and Diane (Darwin) Coffield of Monticello, MN.
John was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Bertrand, and baby Joseph Bertrand.
