John Meidl
John Michael Meidl was born on September 15, 1954, in Sleepy Eye, MN, the son of Edmund and Lorraine (Guendner) Meidl. He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1973. Upon his honorable discharge in 1977, he returned to the Sleepy Eye area to stay. He dedicated over 30 years to the same company, retiring from BIC in 2019. John loved visits with his grandchildren and enjoyed golfing, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends, especially hosting outside parties around Sleepy Eye Corn Days and Summerfest Parade.
John died, with family at his side, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his daughter’s home in New Ulm, MN.
He is survived by his children – Mandy (Adam Stoner) Meidl, Ashley Sellner, and Nikki (Turner) Johnson; grandchildren – Evan, Harley, and Avery; siblings – Jerry (Sue) Meidl and Jeri-Lynn (Lee) Aasgaard. He was preceded in death by his parents – Edmund and Lorraine Meidl; sisters – Christine Gullickson and Colleen Pederson; a brother-in-law – Roman Seifert; and step-mother – Shirley Meidl.
