Lenny was born on May 23, 1946, in Springfield to Roman and Regina (Groebner) Nachreiner. He attended country school and graduated from Comfrey Public High School in 1964. Following graduation, he began farming and met the love of his life, Vickie Ahlness. The couple was married on June 11, 1969, and together they raised four children. Lenny and Vickie enjoyed 21 years together until her passing in 1990.
In addition to farming crops and raising hogs, Lenny provided custom harvesting and grain hauling services, often putting work for others ahead of his own. Over the years, he also worked for Havemeier Trucking, Del Monte, Leavenworth Silage, and Rosenstengel Trucking. Lenny served as a Mulligan Township Supervisor for 33 years and was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs.
Lenny was a proud father and grandfather who rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s events. He loved playing the concertina, listening to old-time music, attending polka dances, tinkering with anything that needed fixing, reading and re-reading farm magazines. In 1995, he met a special friend, Vernice Larson, and from then on, they shared many of life’s joys together.
