Sleepy Eye FFA September Students of the Month
Taylor Berkner is a senior and has been in FFA for six years. Taylor joined FFA because her friends convinced her and she thought it was a good place to grow and meet new people. Taylor is the chapter 1st Vice-President and enjoys the responsibility of the position and interacting with younger members. She is on the Market Plan Leadership Development Event (LDE) team and likes that she gets to present to a panel of judges. Taylor’s Supervised Ag. Experience (SAE) consists of growing her family’s pumpkin patch. Her favorite FFA activity is the chapter Lock-in and is looking forward to officer bonding. Since joining FFA, Taylor has learned skills in responsibility and communication and more about agriculture. She is proud of winning regions in her SAE and LDE.
Mateo Hornsby is a senior and has been in FFA for six years. Mateo joined FFA because his sister convinced him to join. His favorite FFA activity is the Poultry Career Development Event (CDE). Mateo’s Supervised Ag. Experience (SAE) consists of working at Dairy Queen. He is looking forward to competing in the Poultry CDE. Since joining Ag. Mateo has learned hands-on and leadership skills. He is proud of placing 1st overall individual at the region poultry contest and being top 5 at the state contest.
Ari Hernandez is a ninth grader and has been in FFA for three years. Ari joined FFA to meet new people and be a part of a group . She is on the Floriculture Career Development Event (CDE) team and likes that she can be creative and express herself. Her favorite FFA activity is State FFA Convention and looks forward to attending the National FFA Convention. Since joining FFA, Ari has learned leadership and teamwork skills.
McCoy Marti is a senior and has been in FFA for four years. McCoy joined FFA because he likes the classes and activities that FFA offers. McCoy participates in the Horse Evaluation CDE and likes seeing the different horses. His favorite FFA activity is the chapter Lock-in. Something he would like to try is the Fish and Wildlife CDE. While being in Ag. Classes and FFA, McCoy has learned more about welding.
